Trails
Day 1 – 14 km
The route is well marked and the km’s are marked as you go along.
The trails starts along the bank of the Elands River. Prepare yourself for a steep climb of approximately 3km, up, up, up for about 600m (1706m above sea level). Once you get to the top you will forget about the steep climb as the views from the top is really worth the effort.
From here you walk along the escarpment before heading downhill (12km mark) to the overnight camp and a well-deserved rest at the Sonbesie Hut.
Take enough water on the 1st day as there is a shortage of water and water can only be found after about 13km.
Day 2 – 11 km
The 2nd day is an easy walk. Be prepared to star with a short climb, once again offering you beautiful views over the valley. From here you walk through the pine forest before reaching the Elangeni falls. Have a rest and breakfast before heading back.
