About

Green Flag Trail

At the Oystercatcher Hiking Trail explore a part of the Garden Route where modern human behaviour first emerged. You’ll come away with a new appreciation for our planet and for what it means to be human.

  • Walk the clean, largely undeveloped Garden Route coast between Mossel Bay’s Cape St. Blaize and the Gourits River Mouth.
  • This is whale-watching and dolphin-watching heaven. And birding heaven, too.
  • We transport your luggage by road – you carry only your day pack.
  • Overnight accommodation in guest house luxury at Sandpiper Cottages, and in other establishments of similar quality.
  • Fully catered and self-catering options available.
  • Green Flag Accredited Route

Trails

Oystercatcher Hiking Trail: 4 nights, 5 days

Walk from Mossel Bay’s Cape St. Blaize to the Gourits River Mouth in the company of a knowledgeable and entertaining local guide – and discover the ancient history that goes back to the dawn of modern human behaviour.

You’ll walk in the company of new friends in a small group (usually no more than about 12 guests).

  • Includes accommodation, guide fees, luggage transport, and all meals (on some days you’ll carry your own picnic lunch, on others we’ll serve lunch on the beach).
  • Accommodation is provided in superbly-appointed local guesthouses – with some nights at the traditional-style Sandpiper Cottages at Boggomsbaai.
  • Boat trip across the Gouritz River.
  • A new and fresh look at Nature and life.

You’ll walk carrying just your daypack – but you’ll leave with more than a pack-full of memories!
